Celebrate with Flourish

Two blog entries in one day? Someone pinch me! I have been going through my least used cartridges and trying to use them (I told you I've been creating - just not posting) and I made a card using Cricut Lite Celebrate with Flourish.

I thought the elephant was so cute. I cut him out at 3" and the happy birthday at 2". I stamped SU green galore with Hero Arts polka dot in versamark and embossed with clear powder. I used lemon ice stickles on the flourish of the hat and on the elephant. I cut the ear out of Echo Park - A walk in the park paper. I used my irock to add orange gems - one for his eye and one to dot the I, lol. I had some ribbon in my stash I picked up from Michael's for a dollar last Summer that was the right color scheme. The turquoise paper is Recollections and the others are from AC Moore's brand. I think it is a fun summery card.

I am entering this card in Celebrate the Occasion (CTO) challenge #18. The challenge is to create a Happy Birthday card using a party hat. I made this card for a color challenge but I missed the deadline and through someone else I follow, IndyMermaid, I found CTO and this card is a perfect fit! This is my first entry with them and I am happy to play along. I need more challenges to motivate me to craft - and post. I hope more people are inspired to check out CTO. Happy crafting! Card using Accent Essentials

I can't believe it has been over a month since I posted anything! So much for my resolution to be more of an active blogger this year. My world has been crazy busy! My son turned two, work is work and I am taking it all one day at a time. I have been crafting but I just haven't been posting.

I follow More Than Favors and she co-hosts a Cricut Cartridge Chaos Challenge (CCCC) where every week readers get to pick a cartridge to feature for the following week. This week's cartridge is Accent Essentials. This is one of the first cartridges I bought after I purchased my Cricut and it is one of the least used, so I decided I had to play along to get some use out of this cart. Here is my card:

I cut three of these using the regular cut, the shift and the shadow. I used a neon green, turquoise and orange - all cut at 2.25". The middle one I did faux stitching around and used paprika stickles in the cut out part. I had some scrap navy card stock that I cut at 3" and used a Martha Stewart border punch (something like scallop and dots) and adhered to the middle of a 4" X 9" card base of SU whisper white. I stamped a scrappy moms saying in Cajun Craze. I also used a Martha Stewart alphabet to spell dad and used the same stickles to make the dots. Very simple card and I got to use Accent Essentials, yay!!

I want to enter more challenges just to get my creative juices flowing again, so hopefully I will post again - soon! Have a great day!

Flower card

Hello fellow Crafters! I have been M.I.A. due to being busy at home and at work. I am finally scrapbooking my son's baby pictures. I really want to finish the album before his birthday which is the end of this month. I am also making Mother's Day cards to give to the mothers in my life. Here is a card I made:


This is for challenge #72 over at cricutcardzchallenge.blogspot.com. The challenge asked us to make a card for mother's day using the card feature from a cartridge of your choice and it had to have a flower on it. I bought Life's a Beach a while back but I never used it so I decided to use it for this challenge. This is flower #4 I believe. I used the card feature cut at 5" out of white cardstock. I then cut the flower itself at 4.5" to cover the flower in the card. I used my gypsy to find what size I had to cut the flower to cover the flower in the card base. I used yellow and orange peel stickles to make it pop. The Happy Mother's Day stamp is from Stampin Up and the red bling is from Michaels. I stamped it in SU garden green to bring out the green of the leaves. It is simple but effective, I believe. I hope you like it. Thanks for reading and commenting. Some Bunny Loves You

Hello Blogging world! I am so happy to be able to post again. I was away for two weeks and then I had to play catch up at work and at home. While I was away, I won two blogging awards from craftelicious.blogspot.com and indymermaid.blogspot.com  and a prize for a challenge at SugarsweetPapertreats.blogspot.com.  Thank you all so much!  I am sorry I was away and I will post soon to accept both awards.

I made a card that I think is so cute for my niece for Easter.

I used the bunny with carrot image from Simply Charmed cut at 3.75". The card base is daffodil delight from Stampin Up and the matte is from DCWV Nana's Kids matte stack. The stamp I just picked up from A.C. Moore from the dollar bin. Here's a secret, I accidentally ripped the ear as I was taking it off the mat, so my bunny got a bow, lol. I think it worked out because it looks so cute. I used green and glam pink stickles for my final touch.

Cricut Cardz Challenge # 66

I wanted to post this since yesterday but my son is keeping me so busy and away from my computer.  Cricut Cardz Challenge posted this week's challenge on Wednesday.  It is to make a thank you card using the colors yellow, blue and white with a border cut from a cricut cartridge.  You are allowed to use any cartridge you want.  This is what I made:

I used a scrappy moms stamp from A Charmed Life, "Sew Thoughtful!"  It was my inspiration for making this card.  I wanted an image that would go with this phrase so I found a sewing machine on Heritage using my Gypsy.  It is such a great tool for finding what you want to cut without having to go through all the handbooks.  I cut the sewing machine from Heritage at 1.75" and it is popped up.  Card base is an A2 sized card (4.25" X 5.5'), the matte is DCWV from the Citrus Stack cut at 4" X 5.25".   The oval is 3.5" from Plantin Schoolbook and I punched one inch circles and glued them behind to make the scalloped border. I learned this trick from Kristina Werner aka Star of May on you tube.  I cut the scallop border on the tall ball function from Plantin Schoolbook as well at 1" which made it 6" in length so I just cut it down to match the matte.  I faux stitched the oval and the border in a blue sakura souffle pen and the sewing machine with a white sakura pen to go with the sewing theme of the stamp.  I also put a dot in each of the scallops bordering the oval.  This is the second card that I made with no stickles!  Next card, I will have to bling it up to even it out, LOL.

Cricut Cardz Challenge #65

Good Morning Fellow Bloggers!
I decided to get back in the swing of things and participate in a challenge I came across yesterday on Cricut Cardz Challenge. It started since last week and it ends tonight at midnight. The challenge is to make a 9" X 4" card - aka a tall card - using any cartridge and color scheme you prefer. I chose to do a masculine card since my brother's birthday is coming up. This card also qualifies for Sugar Sweet Paper Treats March challenge so I will enter it there as well. The challenge is to use a cut you've never used before.

I used Dude! Cricut Lite cartridge and cut the skater at 3" and the ramp at 3.25". I recently got this cartridge so this is my second time using it. I used purple (I want to say Perfect Plum but I am not sure) cardstock from Stampin Up because I wanted it to look like he was skating at dusk. I hand cut a mountainous backdrop using kraft cardstock and colored the top with brown chalk for texture. I used a Scrappy Mom's sentiment from their stamp set called Designer's Choice, "Kick up you Heels." I treated myself to four of their stamp sets recently and I love them. I admire other stamp sets as well and plan to purchase but Scrappy Mom's stamps fits my card style so I started with them. I wish the picture came out better. I took three photos and this is the best of the three. I didn't do anything extra. I thought about using black diamond stickles on the Skate in the ramp just because I love stickles but I didn't do it. I still might before I give it to him.

Wacky Wednesday challenge... on Friday!

Hello Fellow Bloggers!
I came across a challenge on Morethanfavors.blogspot.com that a card I just made fit perfectly.  It is a Zoo theme - any animal that you would find in a Zoo.  I made this Lion card and it applies so I thought I would enter it, lol.

This super cute lion is from  Life's a Party cut at 3 inches.  I used orange peel stickles to outline all the bright orange parts.  The Just 4 You is from Create a Critter and I believe it is 2.75 inches.  I used turquoise Elmers 3D glitter glue on the 4 to give it that effect.  The background paper is from DCWV Glitter Stack that I have had almost from the beginning of my introduction to crafting a year and a half ago.  The card base is Stampin Up cut portrait length (the long way so the opening is at the bottom).

I like how it turned out.  I made it for a friend's son's birthday.  Thank you for looking/ commenting and have a great day!
